How to Add a Donation-Triggered Spin Wheel to Twitch & OBS

There are two halves to a good stream wheel: getting it on screen cleanly, and getting it to react to your viewers. Capturing a browser tab handles the first but leaves you alt-tabbing to spin. The better setup uses a transparent overlay plus a donation trigger, so a tip spins the wheel on its own while you keep playing. We'll use Wheel of Item because it does both for free, but the OBS steps apply to any browser-source overlay.

Step 1 — Build your wheel

Open Wheel of Item and type your options into the list: game choices, dares, prize tiers, "viewer picks my next round," whatever fits your stream. Reorder or weight slices as needed and tweak the colors. Nothing here requires an account — your wheel is ready the moment you've typed it.

Step 2 — Open the streamer tools and connect your alerts

Head to the streamer tools and connect the donation service you already use — Streamlabs, StreamElements, or Ko-fi. This is what lets a real tip talk to the wheel. If you don't use any of these yet, you can still add the wheel as a plain overlay and spin it manually or with a chat command; the auto-spin just needs an alert source.

Step 3 — Copy the browser-source URL

In the streamer tools, copy the widget URL for your wheel. This is the link OBS will load. Keep it private-ish — anyone with the URL can see your overlay — but it's safe to paste into your own OBS.

Step 4 — Add it as a Browser source in OBS

In OBS Studio (or Streamlabs Desktop):

• Click + under Sources → Browser → Create new.
• Paste the widget URL into the URL field.
• Set a width and height that match your layout (for example 800 × 800 for a square wheel).
• Leave the background transparent — the overlay already ships transparent, so the wheel floats over your scene with no green box.

Position and scale it where you want on screen. That's the overlay done.

Step 5 — Set the donation trigger and test it

Back in the streamer tools, choose how the wheel should react: spin on every donation, or only on tips at or above an amount you set. You can also have the result read aloud with text-to-speech so chat hears the outcome. Fire a test donation from your alert service and watch the wheel spin on its own in OBS. If it spins and lands cleanly, you're live.

Wheel of Item can also take Twitch chat commands, so viewers add their own options to the wheel during the stream. It turns the wheel into a shared toy instead of a static list — handy for "add a dare for 100 bits" style segments. See the streamer tools for the command setup.
